Two business groups in Cebu expressed support to Megawide Construction Corp. for its planned P109-billion rehabilitation of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
Leaders of Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. expressed indignation against a lawsuit which questions the legality of the partnership Megawide shares with GMR Infrastructure Inc., its minority partner in the operations and maintenance of Mactan Cebu International Airport.
These groups decried alleged attempts to smear the only Filipino company with a proven track record in building world-class airports.
Felix Taguiam, president of CCCI, said in a letter to Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade on Dec. 15 that Megawide has the “credibility, experience and the drive” to deliver a topnotch airport.
“Megawide worked diligently with the Cebuanos, to achieve this dream of having a world-class gateway to more opportunities the world has to offer,” Taguiam said.
