153 jobseekers hired on the spot in Cagayan

TUGUEGARAO CITY—More than 2,000 job opportunities were offered during a three-day job fair held at SM City Tuguegarao from June 18 to 20, with 153 applicants hired on the spot, officials reported.

The event was organized by the provincial government of Cagayan and partner agencies as part of the 442nd Aggao Nac Cagayan celebrations.

The job fair was led by the Public Employment Services Office (PESO), with 92 applicants hired on the spot on the first day and another 61 later in the same period.

The event also featured a business-one-stop-shop (BOSS) to assist jobseekers and entrepreneurs with key services.

Aggao Nac Cagayan 2025 Steering Committee chair Mabel Villarica-Mamba emphasized the importance of learning from job-hunting experiences. “You have to treasure whatever your experiences will be,” she said.

Cagayan Governor Manuel Mamba encouraged jobseekers to take available opportunities, saying they should not be too selective. He also called for dignity in labor and better education to support long-term employment. “Education should be responsive to the needs of the people,” he added.

The job fair was joined by 34 local employers, seven overseas recruitment firms, and nine government agencies. Participating groups included private companies, schools, healthcare providers, restaurants, and security services, as well as agencies like the SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG, and PSA.
