Davao City Police Office (DCPO) chief Col. Hansel Marantan said he has filed a leave of absence and requested to be relieved from his post to address several medical issues.
Marantan paid a courtesy call before the Davao City Council on Tuesday, June 17, informing that he officially submitted his request for relief to the Philippine National Police (PNP) headquarters last Friday, June 13.
“I am in pain. I have medical conditions, so I have to address it. I have 52 metals crossing my body. I have total knee replacement. I have a titanium spine. In other words, I am a PWD (person with disability). I think I have to address my situation,” Marantan said.
A report by MindaNews said the City Council passed a resolution commending Marantan’s service to the DCPO through Councilor Conrado Baluran.
Marantan told council members his leave of absence has “90-percent chance” of being granted, allowing him to take a much-needed rest.
