FDC Renewables Corp. said new employment opportunities will open in Santa Fe, Nueva Vizcaya through its upcoming 33.4-megawatt Pampang hydropower project, the company announced.
FDC Renewables disclosed its plans to hire local workers for the construction phase during a courtesy call to Nueva Vizcaya Governor Jose Gambito, aiming to stimulate local economic activity.
Accompanied by officials from the Board of Investments (BOI) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 2, the company noted its commitment to local employment and rural development.
“We aim to create a sustainable energy source while fostering economic growth through local employment, infrastructure development, and stakeholder partnerships,” FDC Renewables vice president Roderick Fernandez said.
The company also plans to build an access road to the weir site, which will support project logistics and improve connectivity for nearby farming communities. Once completed, the road is expected to ease access to markets, transportation, and public services, boosting local productivity.
Gambito welcomed the initiative, citing its potential to boost local development. However, he emphasized the importance of environmental safeguards and requested a full assessment of the project. He added that any formal endorsement from the Provincial Government would be subject to consultation with the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.
BOI Governor Marjorie Ramos-Samaniego underscored the value of green investments in supporting countryside growth.
“The BOI is committed to enabling green investments that bring long-term value not only to the national economy but also to our communities. The Pampang Hydropower Project is a promising example of how clean energy infrastructure can support countryside development, job generation, and sustainability in action,” she said.
FDC Renewables, a subsidiary of FDC Utilities Inc., the power generation arm of the Filinvest Group, also expressed interest in exploring opportunities for solar energy development in the province.
