PH grants visa-free entry to Indian tourists

The Philippines has begun offering visa-free entry to Indian nationals starting June 8, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced on Saturday, June 7.

Under the new policy, Indian nationals may enter the country without a visa for up to 14 days for tourism purposes, provided they present a passport valid for at least six months beyond their intended stay, confirmed hotel accommodations, proof of financial capacity, and a return or onward ticket.

The DFA said Indian travelers holding valid and current visas or residence permits from the United States, Japan, Australia, Canada, Schengen countries, Singapore, or the United Kingdom (AJACSSUK) are also eligible for visa-free entry for up to 30 days. The stay is likewise non-extendible and non-convertible to other visa types.

“Indian nationals must also not have any derogatory record with the Bureau of Immigration in order to be admitted into the country without a visa,” the DFA said.

Visa-free entry may be availed of at any Philippine port of entry. Those traveling for non-tourism purposes or planning longer stays must apply for the appropriate visa through a Philippine embassy or consulate. The DFA added that eligible Indian nationals may also apply for e-Visas via evisa.gov.ph.
