Smart Communications Inc, the wireless arm of PLDT Inc, said it is upgrading its network in Batanes province to deliver stronger LTE coverage.

Smart said it has developed an LTE network specifically for Batanes, a province known for its challenging terrain, remote location and dispersed islands, which complicate efforts to deliver fast data speeds.
Frequent harsh weather also makes deploying and maintaining traditional telecommunications infrastructure difficult, often requiring specialized equipment and innovative solutions to ensure stable connectivity.
