Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) chairman and chief executive Alejandro Tengco and all members of the agency’s board of directors submitted their courtesy resignations to the President.
Tengco said this is to allow the President flexibility in reorganizing the bureaucracy.
The resignations of PAGCOR’s top leadership occurred before the Palace’s Wednesday call for all officials of government-owned or controlled corporations (GOCCs) to submit courtesy resignations.
“We serve at the pleasure of the President,” Tengco said. “And we will accept whatever the Chief Executive’s decision will be.”
Those who resigned alongside Tengco include PAGCOR president and chief operating officer Wilma Eisma and directors Jose Maria Ortega, Francis Democrito Concordia and Gilbert Cesar Remulla.
Philippine National Oil Co. (PNOC) president and chief executive Oliver Butalid also heeded the President’s call and submitted his courtesy resignation.
PNOC said Butalid tendered his courtesy resignation in response to a notice to government-owned and -controlled corporations (GOCCs) issued by the Governance Commission for GOCCs on May 26, with an addendum released May 28.
