The SM Group said 97.28 percent of Asia Pacific College (APC) graduates as of 2024 secured employment after graduation, highlighting the institution’s focus on career readiness. APC is a member of the SM Group.
It reiterated its commitment to inclusive, quality education and workforce development through its educational institutions, which include APC, National University (NU) and the scholarship programs of SM Foundation Inc. These initiatives aim to equip students with the skills and confidence needed for a competitive global workforce.
“At APC, our mission is to shape potential into progress as we prepare our students for the global arena,” said Dr. Ma. Teresita ‘Tata’ Medado, president of APC.
“Graduation is not a conclusion—it marks the beginning of a meaningful journey toward leadership and impact. We inspire our students to embrace lifelong learning and to live with purpose and passion,” said Medado.
APC’s strong emphasis on employability earned it a 5-star rating in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Stars system, specifically in the employability category. This is further supported by APC’s graduate tracer program, launched in 2022 by students, which tracks alumni career outcomes dating back to 2003.
Among APC’s successful alumni is Lieutenant (Junior Grade) Andrew Charles Nakpil, a 2016 Electronics and Communications Engineering graduate. His background in military discipline and digital communications makes him a valuable asset in both defense and technology.
In the creative industry, 2015 Multimedia Arts alumna Lea Bhel Araneta-Cabailo founded TwinkleA Digital in 2019, where she now serves as president and CEO, driving innovation in digital storytelling and design.
The SM Group’s impact on education extends to SM Foundation scholars, demonstrating how education can transform futures.
A recent alumni homecoming saw 925 graduates from 27 batches share their career journeys, illustrating the effect of SM’s educational commitment across various industries.
A large majority of these respondents are gainfully employed across diverse fields. About 71 percent of the alumni have pursued further studies, including master’s degrees, PhDs, secondary degrees and other professional programs.
SM scholars are employed across leading industries, including education, financial services, information technology (IT), engineering/construction, retail, banking and other key sectors.
“The scholarship empowers promising young talent while fostering a holistic student experience that prepares them to excel in their chosen careers and make meaningful contributions to society,” said Carmen Linda Atayde, executive director for education programs at SM Foundation.
“Each scholar’s success reminds us of education’s long-term social impact and ripple effect of positive change,” said Atayde.
