QUEZON CITY, Philippines — The Human Rights Violations Victims’ Memorial Commission (HRVVMC) is eager to announce the launch of its upcoming project in line with the celebration of International Museum Day and National Heritage Month this May 2025.
Assistive Museum Services (FSL Video Guides; Filipino and English Audio Guides) will be launched on May 20, 2025 at The Freedom Memorial Museum Gallery (TFMMG), 150 Corporate Center, Panay Avenue, Quezon City. HRVVMC Executive Director Carmelo Victor A. Crisanto will be present at the said activity, together with Martial Law survivors and various deaf and hard-of-hearing groups.
The project aims to foster inclusion and innovation in advancing Martial Law (1972-1986) education across different sectors of society. These innovative storytelling techniques provide a unique engagement experience for the visitors, taking after numerous pioneer local and foreign museums. The installation of the Assistive Museum Services (FSL Video Guides; Filipino and English Audio Guides) will cater to the general public, including the deaf community, without relying solely on third-party interpreters.
Participants will be taken on a guided tour before being allowed to tour TFMMG at their own pace using their personal gadgets. This technological integration enhances social and cultural development, creating an inclusive and accessible environment for visitors to engage with and learn about human rights violations during the Martial Law period.
Furthermore, TFMMG is set to install the next phase of the project, assistive technologies for visually impaired members of the community by 2026. Members of the press who wish to cover the upcoming event are advised to coordinate with the Museum Division at museum@hrvvmc.gov.ph.
