Lady Gaga draws 2.1 million fans to record-breaking Copacabana concert

Lady Gaga drew an estimated 2.1 million fans to her free concert at Copacabana Beach on Saturday night (Sunday, PHT), setting a new attendance record, according to Rio officials.

The event was part of the city’s “Todo Mundo no Rio” festival and surpassed the previous record of 1.6 million set by Madonna in 2024.

Gaga delivered a five-act performance she described as a “gothic opera,” featuring tracks from her latest album Mayhem along with hits like “Shallow,” “Poker Face,” and “Bad Romance.”

The beachfront stage, inspired by Greek theater, spanned more than a kilometer.

Fans from around the world packed the iconic beach, with local stations TV Globo and Multishow airing the show live.

In a post after the concert, Gaga said, “Nothing could prepare me for the feeling I had—the absolute pride and joy I felt singing for the people of Brazil.”

City officials estimated the show brought in at least 600 million reais (about $106 million) in tourism revenue.

Authorities also confirmed the arrest of two individuals suspected of plotting an attack, which was stopped without incident.
