Insular Oil Corp., through its affiliate Seashell Petroleum Energy Corp., opened a depot in Cebu province last week, with a combined petroleum capacity of 25.9 million liters.
The depot, located on a 3.6-hectare site in Pitalo, San Fernando, Cebu, houses three large storage tanks for gasoline and diesel, with a combined capacity of 25.9 million liters.
The terminal is designed to accommodate up to 130 million liters, providing ample room for future growth and enhanced operational flexibility.
Insular Oil chairman Emeritus Chito Villavicencio noted Seashell’s role in uplifting the local economy of Cebu through fuel availability.
“We hope that together, we would be able to move forward for the economic benefit of San Fernando, along with its nearby towns and cities. We aim not only to provide jobs but opportunities, because once you have fuel in a city, there will be other industries that would come,” Villavicencio said.
Seashell Petroleum’s new depot marked a major step forward in meeting the growing fuel demands of Cebu Province and the Visayas region.
The launch depot follows three years of dedicated planning and construction, representing a significant milestone not only for the company but also for the continued advancement of the region’s energy infrastructure.
San Fernando Mayor Maita Canoy expressed its support to Seashell Petroleum, assuring that the LGU “will always remain business-friendly.”
Seashell Petroleum said it is also actively laying the groundwork to expand its aviation fuel facilities, aiming to meet the increasing demands of airlines operating in the region.
The strategic move reinforces Seashell’s position as a key player in Cebu’s fuel supply chain.
