Ginebra to remove plastic pourers

Ginebra San Miguel Inc. (GSMI), the world’s largest gin maker, said it will remove all plastic pourers from its products.

It said the move is part of the company’s effort to reduce its plastic waste and support its sustainability goals.

GSMI said it would complete the shift to pourer-free bottles by March 2025. The transition includes the launch of Primera Light Brandy (750 mL) in new packaging.

The company earlier removed plastic pourers from its GSM Blue line. New products like GSM Premium Gin and Freedom Island Light Rum were also released without plastic pourers.

Since 2021, GSMI has made changes to its packaging to support sustainability. It switched Ginebra San Miguel Hari (1L) bottles from plastic caps to aluminum ones. It also improved its nationwide “Boteful Philippines” bottle retrieval program to lessen environmental impact.
