FGEN to install solar rooftop at Oakridge Business Park in Mandaue

Oakridge Realty Development Corp. (ORDC), developer of the Oakridge Business Park in Cebu and First Gen Corp. (First Gen) expanded their partnership to include the construction of a rooftop solar power generating facility in the premier development.

ORDC president Anne Liu and First Gen chief engagement officer Carlo Vega signed an agreement on Feb. 27, 2025 where First Gen will install solar photovoltaic panels with a 638-kilowatt-peak capacity atop the Oakridge Business Park.

“It is always a privilege to collaborate with companies who share a concern for the environment and want to do more to reduce their carbon footprint. We started the decarbonization journey with Oakridge with low carbon power supply from natural gas and we’re proud to have been with them all these years as they transitioned to 100 percent RE,” Vega said.

ORDC initially signed an agreement with First Gen in 2021 to directly supply the business park with electricity from a natural gas-fired power plant.

ORDC signed another supply contract with First Gen in 2023, calling for the shift to geothermal energy for all the business park’s power requirements as part of its sustainability program.

“We are committed to supporting the Oakridge team as they implement more energy solutions and further reduce the environmental impact of their property developments,” Vega said.

The new agreement signifies ORDC’s continuous commitment to adopting sustainable and environmentally friendly practices in running its businesses, especially in its flagship business park.

The four-hectare Oakridge Business Park in Mandaue City is the first mixed-use property in Cebu to be 100-percent powered by RE and to install charging stations for electric vehicles as well as solar powered charging stations for mobile devices.

“Since we started Oakridge Business Park in 2009, we have gradually made it part of our mission to push for sustainable solutions to help the environment. We would like to believe that the impact of our initiatives has not only lead to an improved carbon footprint, but has also significantly influenced the lifestyle and more importantly, has instilled a more conscious mindset in the communities we serve,” Liu said.

Under their renewed power supply deal, First Gen and its sister company Pi Energy Inc. will also provide Oakridge Business Park with a remote energy monitoring system that allows for real-time electricity usage tracking.
