The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said Monday it registered over 91 million Filipinos to the National ID system, nearing its target of 92 million by the end of the year.
It said that as of Nov. 22, 2024, about 91,130,320 Filipinos already registered to the National ID, representing 98.9 percent of the target registration.
“The registration of over 91 million Filipinos is a significant milestone of the National ID system. This would not have been possible without the dedication and perseverance of our registration teams who consistently extend National ID services to the public,” said PSA Undersecretary Claire Dennis Mapa.
“As we inch closer to achieving the target registration for the National ID, we intend to continue providing opportunities for Filipinos to register with ease and convenience,” said Mapa who serves as the national statistician and civil registrar general.
“Though we have successfully registered the majority of the population, we continue to encourage Filipinos who have yet to register to be part of the National ID system,” said PhilSys Registry Office deputy national statistician Rosalinda Bautista.
“Rest assured that we will keep National ID services such as registration accessible and inclusive for all,” she said.
The PSA said that in Agusan del Sur, house-to-house registration was conducted in Bayugan City. In Palawan, the PSA offered National ID registration as part of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP)-spearheaded celebration of the Indigenous Peoples (IPs) Month and 27th Indigenous Peoples Rights Act (IPRA) Commemoration in Puerto Princesa City.
It said that in Catanduanes, Rehistro Bulilit was conducted in the municipality of San Miguel. To help the kids feel at ease during registration, coloring books and crayons were provided.
The PSA said it also worked with institutions to provide opportunities to more Filipinos to register to the National ID system. In Abra, National ID registration was set up at Layugan Integrated School in the municipality of Bucay. The initiative allowed students to conveniently register to the National ID system within the school premises.
It also worked with professors, students and personnel of the College of Law and College of Social Sciences and Philosophy at the UP Diliman, who were able to register to the National ID within their respective colleges.
The PSA said that it teamed up ith GCash to bring National ID services to schools and barangays through the mobile wallet service’s community events.
Participants were able to avail of services such as registration, ePhilID issuance and assistance in downloading the Digital National ID. The ePhilIDs issued and Digital National IDs downloaded during the activity were presented by participants in opening their GCash accounts.
The PSA participated in three GCash KYC On-The-Go events at Bulacan State University in Malolos, Bulacan; Mapua Malayan Colleges Mindanao in Davao City, Davao del Sur; and Cebu Technological University in Cebu City, Cebu.
