Philippines finishes 3rd at Miss Intercontinental 2024

Alyssa Marie Redondo added another runner-up honor for the Philippines by finishing second runner-up at the Miss Intercontinental 2024 pageant on Saturday, held on Tal Avenue in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. 

Redondo also won the Best in Swimsuit award and the Power of Beauty special award, which secured her a spot in the final Top 7.

Maria Cepero of Puerto Rico was crowned Miss Intercontinental 2024, while Georgette Gabriela Musrie Efesia of Venezuela was named first runner-up. Bui Khanh Linh of Vietnam, Celina Weil of Germany, Kenyatta Beazer of the USA, and Amanda Peresu Moyo of Zimbabwe rounded out the Top 7 as third, fourth, fifth, and sixth runners-up, respectively.

“It has been an incredible experience. Beyond the crowns, I’m leaving with priceless friendships from around the world. All the hard work has truly paid off, and I’m excited to see what the future holds,” the 24-year-old Filipino-American nurse and model shared on Instagram after the coronation, expressing her gratitude to her supporters.

The Mutya ng Pilipinas organization, led by president Cory Quirino, lauded Redondo’s achievement, stating, “Your victory brings pride to the Philippines and shines a spotlight on Filipino excellence on the world stage.” Redondo follows fellow Mutya queen Megan Deen Campbell’s first runner-up finish at the recent World Top Model 2024 in Livigno, Italy.

Mutya queen vies at year-ending MTI 2024/25

Liana Rose Barrido has vowed to give her best effort to win the Miss Tourism International 2024/25 crown, with the finals set for today (Friday) at Sunway Resort Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This year marks the 30th Pearl Jubilee anniversary of the Malaysia-based Miss Tourism International (MTI) pageant, which celebrates unity and friendship through diversity and beauty.

Thirty-nine contestants from around the globe are competing for five MTI titles: Miss Tourism International 2024/25, Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International 2024/25, Miss Tourism Metropolitan International 2024/25, Miss Tourism Global 2024/25, and Miss Tourism Cosmopolitan International 2024/25.

Barrido, a 26-year-old Business Administration graduate from Batangas, aims to surpass last year’s performance by Jeanette Reyes, who won Miss Tourism Metropolitan International 2023/24 and the Miss Southeast Asia Tourism Ambassadress 2023/24 special award. The Philippines remains the winningest country in the pageant, with five titles previously claimed by Maria Esperanza Manzano (2000), Rizzini Alexis Gomez (2012), Angeli Dione Gomez (2013), Jannie Loudette Alipoon (2017), and Cyrille Payumo (2019).

Barrido is considered one of the favorites for the title, alongside Miss Venezuela Milena Paola Soto, Miss Croatia Lorena Cacia, Miss Australia Stevie Hearl, Miss Indonesia Nagia Halisa, and Miss Poland Zuza Śladowska.
