Petrolift acquires 51,000-barrel petroleum tanker

Petrolift, a member of the Leonio Group of companies, unveiled the M/T Petro Elise, a 51,000-barrel petroleum tanker considered one of the largest, internationally classed vessels in the Philippines.

The 95.95-meter-long, 18.6-meter-wide and 10.20-meter-deep tanker is powered by very low sulfur fuel oil (VLSFO) and automotive diesel oil (ADO).

It has a multi-grade cargo handling system for three grades of clean petroleum products and a cargo remote liquid monitoring system for real-time viewing by shore personnel during loading and discharging.

Petrolift vice chairman Carlo N. Leonio and Elise Leonio-Asuncion perform the bottle breaking ceremony christening M/T Petro Elise.

Petrolift is a longtime base fleet contractor for oil majors Shell Philippines and Petron. The new tanker is seen as a welcome addition to the industry, especially after recent typhoons and maritime accidents.

A pioneer in internationally accredited ship management and operations, Petrolift introduced the country’s first internationally classed oil tanker barges. The company said it has consistently led the industry in adopting international standards.

The M/T Petro Elise will be delivered to its charterer for petroleum distribution throughout the Philippines.
