DITO Telecommunity Corp. said it expects to acquire 50,000 postpaid subscribers for its unlimited 5G home WiFi by end of 2033.
DITO chief commercial officer Evelyn Jimenez said the company received 30,000 applicants for 5G home WiFi less than a month since the service was launched.
“The minimum number of subscribers we should get is around 50,000 by the end of the year,” she said.
DITO 5G Home WiFi delivers up to 500 Mbps+ of 5G-fast internet speeds without data cap. The service is available in Cavite, Davao, Laguna, the National Capital Region and Cebu.
Jimenez said DITO also aimed to close 2023 with a total of nine to 10 million mobile phone subscribers.
DITO’s subscriber base dropped to 7.74 million from 14.96 million subscribers because of the SIM Registration Law.
“We’re not worried about the rest of the subscribers that did not register because our business is protected since almost 100 percent of our revenue generating subscribers were registered,” Jimenez said.
“Because of the SRA, the quality of our subscribers really improved,” she said.
DITO chief technology officer Rodolfo Santiago the company is “very confident” to pass the fourth annual technical audit by the National Telecommunications Commission.
DITO passed its third annual technical audit last year with a national population coverage of 72.39 percent, with minimum average broadband speed of 71.77 Mbps and 801.19 Mbps for all 4G and 5G sites, respectively.
DITO committed to deliver national population coverage of 70.01 percent and MABS of 55 Mbps in the third year of its commitment period.
