For many Filipino boatmen, each trip out into the water is a journey of grit, sacrifice, and hope. But these stories are often unheard or untold, as fleeting as the tide, as silent as the wind that guides their sails.
This year, Bostik Philippines is honoring boatmen with “Pabangka ni El Kapitan Marine Epoxy Promo,” a nationwide contest that aims to capture their stories from rivers and seas, with a chance to win a brand-new bangka.
Running first in Luzon from April 11 to June 23, 2025, “Pabangka ni El Kapitan Marine Epoxy Promo” hopes to shine a light on the real-life struggles and triumphs of Filipino boatmen who serve as lifelines to many coastal communities. Whether it’s ferrying passengers, delivering goods, or fishing to feed their families, these everyday heroes deserve to be recognized.
Through “Pabangka ni El Kapitan Marine Epoxy Promo,” we in Bostik Philippines hope to honor the unsung heroes of our waters. The boatmen who wake up before sunrise, brave the changing tides and inclement weather to keep entire communities connected and sustained. We want to hear their stories, celebrate their courage, and help them continue their journeys with pride,” said Fides Kasman, Director of Market Development at Bostik Philippines.
How to Join
To join the contest, boatmen from across Luzon are invited to share their stories by filling out a Google Form, where they will answer a few questions and talk about what “Pabangka ni El Kapitan Marine Epoxy Promo”—a symbol of their boat and livelihood—means to them. Stories will be judged based on authenticity, emotional impact, and how the prize could benefit the participant in the long term.
Two stories will be declared winners, with the boatmen behind the stories taking home a brand-new bangka each.
Winners will be announced on June 25, 2025, in the presence of a DTI representative. They will be notified through SMS, email, registered mail, and phone call. Their stories will also be featured on Bostik Philippines’ official Facebook page.
