Japanese lifestyle hub embraces local charm in first flagship store

MUJI Philippines has officially opened its largest and first flagship store at Glorietta 3, celebrating a significant achievement in the brand’s eight-year presence in the country.

Spanning over 2,600 square meters across three floors, the new store offers the widest selection of MUJI products to date and introduces new concepts that demonstrate the brand’s deeper commitment to Filipino lifestyles.

The Japanese brand—short for Mujirushi Ryohin or “no-brand quality goods”—is known for its clean design, functional products, and quiet approach to retail.

With the opening of MUJI Glorietta, the brand goes beyond selling essentials and becomes a lifestyle hub

“This is a flagship store not just in size but in purpose,” said MUJI Philippines president Takeshi Akiyoshi. “We wanted to create a space that brings our full vision to life—offering comfort, sustainability, and simplicity in a way that fits the Filipino way of living.”

Among the store’s highlights is its first-ever MUJI Bakery, where freshly baked goods like pandesal and croissants are made in-house daily.

There’s also the brand’s largest Coffee Counter yet, with seating for over 120 guests and a menu featuring drinks made from Benguet coffee beans and Hokkaido milk.

The store also doubles as an interactive space, offering embroidery services, clothing alterations, refill stations, and even a stamp table for customizing stationery.

Local touches are present throughout—from reclaimed Philippine wood used in the interiors to green plants sourced from a Japanese-owned chemical-free farm in Batangas.

According to Akiyoshi, the decision to open such a large location in Makati was driven by growing demand and a desire to showcase the full MUJI experience.

“Many young people in the Philippines are interested in our products and our philosophy,” he said. “They’re looking for quality and simplicity.”

MUJI Glorietta is open daily at Glorietta 3, Levels 1 to 3.
