Drift prodigy Cañete scores double-win in Indonesian tilt

RISING teen racer Bella Cañete once again etched her name into the record books and has taken the Southeast Asian scene by storm, claiming dominant back-to-back victories in the Indonesian Drift Series (IDS) over the weekend.

Driving for the Akuma Drift Team and proudly representing the Philippines, the 13-year-old drift prodigy soared to the top in both the Women Drift Challenge (WDC) Pro-Am and the IDS NewGen categories, solidifying her status as the Philippines’ youngest drifter to be hailed as a champion and one of Southeast Asia’s most promising young talents.

The WDC Pro-Am division, known for its high-pressure solo runs, saw Cañete deliver a seamless performance that had the entire venue on its feet. Spectators erupted with cheers and applause each time she hit the track.

With laser-sharp consistency, aggressive angles, and clean transitions, Cañete not only secured the Best Qualifying Run but went on to dominate the finals, leaving judges and spectators in awe of her control and maturity behind the wheel.

Following closely behind was Wendy Walters of the Franchi x ARDF Drift Team in second place, her teammate Karina A. in third, and independent privateer Zenetta securing fourth.

The win was especially sweet and meaningful, marking Cañete’s redemption and a powerful comeback following a dramatic crash at last year’s WDC Special Stage in Meikarta.

Cañete didn’t stop there. She carried her momentum into the mixed-gender IDS NewGen category, which showcases solo runs from the region’s most promising young talents.

Once again, she impressed with high-scoring, technically precise runs that outclassed both male and female competitors.

She claimed the IDS NewGen title, again for the Akuma Drift Team, while Athariz Fairrel of ASC Monster Drift earned second place.

Deni Hernando from Dumasari Spirit of Race rounded out the podium in third, with Walters returning to the top four, finishing fourth for Franchi x ARDF Drift Team.

The consecutive wins not only added to her growing list of achievements but also further solidified Cañete’s rising status in the 2025 IDS season.

From karting champion to international drift champ, her journey is igniting the passions of young motorsport fans across Asia—especially young girls who see in her a fearless role model.

Known online as “BabyDrift,” Cañete continues to document her journey on social media and is actively seeking sponsorship to support her growing career.

With her unmatched skill, charisma, and poise under pressure, Cañete  is not just a name to watch—she’s setting the standards for tomorrow’s drift champions.
