Veteran rower Edgar Ilas reached the grand finals by clocking 6 minutes 40.9 seconds to place fifth in the 23-39 age group and 18th overall in the lightweight men’s 2000-meter event at the recent 2025 World Rowing Indoor Championships.
The former Southeast Asian Games’ medalist consistently finished in the top 20 from the preliminaries through the semifinals in the two-day competition.
In the women’s events, Kristine Paraon and Feiza Lenton reached the semifinals, but failed to qualify for the finals.
Paraon finished fifth in the women’s 21-22 age category with a time of 7:22.8, while Lenton placed sixth in the lightweight women’s 23-39 division at 7:58.4.
Ateneo rowers Jasper Go and Kiana Co also reached the semifinals, finishing 41st and 42nd, respectively, in the 500m event.
Six Filipinos qualified for the continental heats, namely Julia Letrondo (6th, W21-22), Daryl Pangantao (11th, M17-18), Reine Poblete (14th, M17-18), Khayzie Caviltes (16th, WU17), Cris Nievares (26th, M23-39), and Math Jugadora (41st, MU17).
