THE Philippines’ top squash player, Reymark Begornia, joined forces with David Pelino and secured a runner-up finish at the 25th International Jumbo Doubles for President’s Cup 2025 in Singapore.
Competing in their second year as a duo, Begornia and Pelino showcased impressive chemistry but fell short in the championship match against Malaysia’s Elvinn Keo and Timothy Arnold, 9-11, 6-11, to settle for silver.
The Philippine squash team is now gearing up for major upcoming competitions, including the 2025 Southeast Asian Games in Bangkok, Thailand, the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan, and the qualifiers for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

A significant contributor to the team’s progress is Malaysian coach Low Wee Wern, a two-time Asian Games gold medalist in the team event and a silver medalist in singles.
Wern, a former world No. 5, has been leading the Philippine squad for seven months, bringing wealth of experience from nearly two decades with the Malaysian team.
“We’re trying to grow it. I know squash is one of the smallest sports here, but we are working for the future of the sport and its longevity,” Wern said in an earlier interview.
