PH bowlers bag 2 bronze medals at Para World tilt

THE Philippine Para Tenpin Bowling team bagged two bronze medals at the 2025 International Bowling Federation (IBF) Para World Championships, which were recently held at the Top Bowl in Hong Kong.

Jaime Manginga and Augusto Hernandez earned a bronze medal in TPB8 men’s doubles—a classification for wheelchair bowlers.

The other bronze came from the tandem of Kim Ian Chi and Samuel Matias TPB10 men’s doubles, a classification for standing bowlers with upper limb disabilities.

They tallied 1,959 pinfalls in six games for an average score of 326.5 points, finishing behind gold medalists George Holscher and Nelson David Jr. of team USA, which got an average score of 369 in 2,214 pins.

Thailand’s Pongsakorn Chumchai and Suphan Sinthusuwan got the silver with an average of 340 points in 2,040 pins.

The Manginga-Hernandez tandem made the Philippines as the second-best Southeast Asian team in TPB8 men’s doubles, besting fourth-placer Malaysia and seventh-ranked Singapore.

Meanwhile, the Chi-Matias duo garnered an average score of 393.2 points after tallying 2,359 pins in six games.

They fell behind Thailand’s Preecha Wetchakama and Raiwin Phisitthanakul, who captured the gold medal, while host Kong Kong’s Pui Kin Chow and Chi Sang Alex To took the silver.
