Junior Altas, Lyceum win 1st NCAA Street Dance

THE University of Perpetual Help System Dalta-Dance Company and Lyceum of the Philippines University showed their elite dancing skills to rule the inaugural National Collegiate Athletic Association Season 100 Street Dance Competition at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City on Thursday night.

The high school champion team from Las Pin̈as took home the P50,000 top prize and an elegant trophy after garnering 86.2 points in the competition.

Wearing hip-hop and football-inspired costumes, the Altas Dance Company wowed the crowd with their synchonized moves and dancing skills to get the nod of the judges.

They were followed by Lyceum of the Philippines University Juniors with 84.2 points, good for second place and a prize of P30,000.

Jose Rizal University placed third with 82.6 points and pocketed P20,000.

In the seniors’ division, host school Lyceum won the title and the top purse of P50,000 with a score of 91.6 points, while College of St. Benilde placed runner-up with 90.6 points, which was worth P30,000.

JRU ranked third with 89 points and received P20,000.

Perpetual Help president Dr. Anthony Tamayo said it was an added honor for his school to count the Street Dance crown as one of the university’s achievements in the NCAA.
