Republic Asia Chief Executive Officer Bran Reluao is leading the charge in bridging the digital divide as he spearheads a new partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), and iACADEMY.
The initiative, dubbed “Pay IT Forward: A Digital Transformation Advocacy,” was launched to promote inclusive digital learning across the country.
“Today, we come together under a shared vision—to make digital learning more accessible for all. The government has made significant strides toward this goal. In our own little way, we wish to contribute to this cause through Republic Asia’s ‘Pay IT Forward’ initiative,” Reluao said.
“Education is the great equalizer. As a digital inclusivity advocate, I personally believe that technology can be a powerful equalizer, too—if we give every learner a fair chance at success. One learner, one school at a time,” he added.
The recent signing ceremony brought together key government and education leaders, including DICT Secretary Henry Rhoel Aguda, DICT Undersecretary Dino Aguirre, DepEd Assistant Secretary Aurelio Paolo Bartolome, and iACADEMY President Raquel Wong—all united by a common goal: to expand access to digital education for Filipino students.
Reluao, an AI and digital advocate, underscored the importance of making digital tools and connectivity accessible to all learners, regardless of location or background.
Republic Asia, known for its innovative approach to digital media and communication, especially among the Millennials and Gen Z , has developed the “Pay IT Forward” initiative in partnership with iACADEMY to complement government efforts aimed at digital transformation.
The program will support DICT’s Free Wi-Fi for All initiative and DepEd’s blended learning programs.
As part of its commitment, Republic Asia will distribute 100 tablets and three Starlink devices to three public schools in Cebu.
In addition to providing the devices, iACADEMY will conduct training sessions to help teachers make the most of the technology.
iACADEMY President Raquel Wong said: “At iACADEMY, we have always believed that technology and education are powerful allies in unlocking the full potential of students. In today’s fast-paced digital landscape, access to technology is no longer a privilege. It is a necessity. That is why we are proud to stand alongside RepublicAsia, DICT, and DepEd in our shared commitment to bridging the digital divide through the Pay It Forward initiative.”
“This project is more than just a donation of connectivity and tablets to schools and students. It is an investment in their future, empowering them with the tools they need to navigate, create, and thrive in an increasingly digital world. These devices are not just pieces of technology. They are keys to opportunity, enabling young minds to develop confidence, creativity, and capability in the digital age,” Wong added.
