Actress and former Batangas governor Vilma Santos-Recto on Saturday endorsed the senatorial lineup of Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas, emphasizing the importance of unity and continued teamwork beyond the May 12 elections.
Santos-Recto spoke during a lunch she and her husband, Finance Secretary Ralph Recto, hosted for the Alyansa slate ahead of their campaign rally at the Batangas City Convention Center. The ticket is endorsed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
She stressed that while elections are important, what truly matters is what happens after the voting—how elected leaders perform in office. She encouraged the candidates to remain united and continue working together as a team, expressing optimism that their collaboration would be beneficial if they succeed in the elections.
Offering her best wishes to the senatorial candidates, Santos-Recto voiced confidence in their capabilities and in the strength of the Alyansa coalition.
She urged those present to support and celebrate the alliance.
Santos-Recto also highlighted the need for national-level support to spur development in local areas like Batangas, even with her husband serving in the Cabinet. She pointed out that continued assistance from the Senate remains essential.
She concluded her remarks by reaffirming her support for the Alyansa slate and the broader Bagong Pilipinas agenda, wishing all the candidates success in the elections.
The Alyansa slate includes former Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos, Makati City Mayor Abby Binay, Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Senator Pia Cayetano, former Senator Panfilo Lacson, Senator Lito Lapid, former Senator Manny Pacquiao, former Senate President Vicente Sotto III, Senate Majority Leader Francis Tolentino, ACT-CIS Representative and former Social Welfare Secretary Erwin Tulfo, and Deputy Speaker Camille Villar.
