Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial bet Benhur Abalos welcomed the endorsement of Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia and key figures of One Cebu as the local campaign period kicked off.
In a proclamation rally held in Barili, Garcia raised Abalos’ hand in a strong gesture of support.
Abalos extended his gratitude to Garcia and the people of Cebu.
Abalos emphasized the importance of sustaining Cebu’s growth through effective governance:
“All I can say is, I hope there is continuity of leadership. Because it speaks for itself. The government speaks for itself. So the leadership should continue and re-elect Gov. Gwen and the entire One Cebu.”
If elected to the Senate, Abalos pledged to prioritize the removal of Value Added Tax (VAT) on electricity, noting the need to ease the burden of high utility costs on Filipino households and businesses.
Abalos said he had already opposed high electricity charges back in 2005 when he was a congressman.
