Health influencer Dr. Willie Ong announced Thursday he is withdrawing his candidacy for senator to focus on his cancer treatment.
In a Facebook post, Ong said he decided to quit the 2025 senatorial race to prioritize his health.
“I am officially withdrawing my candidacy for the 2025 elections, so I can focus more on taking care of my health,” he said.
Ong, a cardiologist, revealed last year that doctors found a malignant tumor in his abdomen.
But that did not stop him from filing his candidacy for senator despite a failed vice presidential campaign in 2022.
“I sincerely thank all the people who supported me and prayed for me. I will continue to support good governance and the candidates who espouse the same ideals as mine,” Ong added in his post.
