Reports from the Police Aviation Security Group (Avsegroup) indicated that the suspect made a statement about a bomb on a Cebu Pacific flight 5J-571 that was bound for Cebu on Sunday afternoon.

Airport police officer Leda Frelyn immediately coordinated with Police Station 3 regarding the alleged bomb in the aircraft located at Bay 126.

Together with investigation and intelligence personnel from NPS-3, the team proceeded to the area for verification and police intervention. The operation, led by Police Major Francis Camu, involved inspecting the baggage of the passengers, but no incendiary materials were found.

The Manila International Airport Authority reminds the public that making bomb jokes is a serious offense under Presidential Decree No. 1727, which prohibits false bomb threats. Violators may face imprisonment for up to five years or a fine of up to ₱40,000.

Recently, police also detained two air travelers at Bohol-Panglao International Airport for making a bomb joke during a Cebu Pacific flight 5J617.

Passengers are encouraged to exercise caution and responsibility in their statements to ensure the safety and security of all travelers.
