Burgonio is new PSC chief vice Morales

BRIGADIER General Peter Burgonio has officially assumed his new post as acting chief of the Presidential Security Command (PSC), the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) said Thursday.

AFP chief Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. presided at the formal turnover of command held at Malacañang.

Maj. Gen. Jesus Nelson Morales formally relinquished the position in favor of Burgonio who will serve in an acting capacity.

Morales led the PSC with distinction, ensuring the safety, security, and protection of the President, the First Family, and visiting heads of state during official engagements.

Burgonio was a member of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1993.

His recent assignments included chief of the Army Intelligence Regiment where he demonstrated his strategic acumen and operational proficiency.

The PSC stands as the premier protective unit of the AFP, tasked with ensuring the security and safety of the President of the Philippines, the First Family, and the seat of government at Malacañang Palace.

Brawner emphasized the importance of the PSC’s mission in the face of evolving security challenges, urging all personnel to remain vigilant and committed to their duty. He also reiterated the AFP’s full support to the PSC in its efforts to maintain the highest level of security for the President and the nation.
