The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) said Friday there would be no disruption in its services amid the leadership transition.
In a statement, the agency confirmed the resignation of Ivan John E. Uy as secretary of the DICT. President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. has accepted Secretary Uy’s resignation on March 6, 2025.
As the third Secretary of DICT, Uy supported President Marcos call for digitalization, spearheading the rollout of game-changing government solutions such as the eGovPH App, eTravel, eLGU, and eReport.
His tenure also saw the expansion of the Free Public Internet Access Program to over 16,000 active sites nationwide—the program’s widest reach yet since the enactment of the Free Internet Access in Public Places Act in 2017— as well as the issuance of an updated National Cybersecurity Plan.
Under his leadership, the Philippines made significant strides in improving its global standing in government digital transformation, cybersecurity, connectivity, and inclusivity.
Uy expressed his deep gratitude to President Marcos for affording him the opportunity to serve the Filipino people.
The DICT acknowledges Uy’s invaluable contributions in accelerating digital transformation across the bureaucracy and improving the country’s ICT sector.
President Marcos has yet to name the officer-in-charge, who will lead the department in the meantime while waiting for the appointment of a new DICT chief.
“The DICT assures the public that there will be no disruption in its services amid the leadership transition. The Department looks forward to welcoming its new Officer-in-Charge who will complete President Marcos’ vision of an inclusive and innovative Bagong Pilipinas for all,” the agency said.
