The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) held an inter-agency meeting Wednesday to enhance drone regulations and safety enforcement, promoting responsible drone usage.
The meeting, led by General Ricardo Banayat, involved key stakeholders from various agencies, including the Director General’s Office, the Department of Trade and Industry, the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group, and the Office of the President’s Anti-Terrorism Council.
The discussions centered on enhancing the enforcement of existing drone regulations, streamlining administrative processes for drone users, and improving coordination among agencies.
A major topic was the establishment of designated drone parks or zones to provide a safe and legal space for both recreational and professional drone operations.
To ensure compliance, CAAP is also planning to introduce an accessible online registration system along with a comprehensive safety program.
CAAP Director General Capt. Manuel Antonio Tamayo emphasized the importance of public safety and national security as drone technology continues to advance.
“By collaborating with various government agencies, we aim to create a more structured and efficient regulatory framework that promotes responsible drone usage,” he stated.
This initiative reaffirms CAAP’s commitment to maintaining airspace safety while fostering innovation in drone technology, ensuring that regulations keep pace with industry advancements.
