President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. called on Filipinos to embrace the Chinese New Year as a moment of self-improvement and ambition, urging the nation to set bold intentions and strive for progress that benefits not only individuals but the country as a whole.
“As we welcome a new year of self-improvement and good fortune, let this event inspire us to boldly set our intentions and confidently pursue grand ambitions not only for ourselves but for the greater good,” Mr. Marcos said.
As the Year of the Snake begins, he emphasized the virtues associated with the zodiac sign, including wisdom, intuition, and determination, urging Filipinos to embrace these values in their pursuit of progress.
The president also underscored the role of challenges in fostering growth, encouraging Filipinos to view every hardship as an opportunity for transformation.
He called for clarity and resolve in working toward shared aspirations, particularly in strengthening national unity.

“May this occasion remind us that every challenge is a chance for growth, and every effort, guided by clarity and resolve, is an opportunity to fulfill our shared aspirations,” he said.
President Marcos linked the celebration to his administration’s Bagong Pilipinas initiative, which aims to promote new beginnings, economic development, and national solidarity.
He likened the vibrant lanterns of the festivities to a guiding light for the country’s aspirations.
“May this auspicious time rekindle our commitment to a Bagong Pilipinas—inspiring new beginnings, forging fruitful endeavors, and deepening our duty to strengthen the ties that bind us as a country,” he said.
President Marcos expressed hope that the Year of the Snake would bring wisdom and empowerment, guiding Filipinos through life with grace and resilience.
In her own Lunar New year message, Vice President Sara Duterte called on Filipinos to “embrace the spirit of generosity and harmony that defines this season.”
“This vibrant time not only honors our rich traditions but also highlights the strong bonds of collaboration that enrich our heritage. Let us march ahead with renewed vigor and determination to ring in 2025 with hope and optimism;” the Vice President said.
“We join all communities in celebrating the efforts that brought good fortune and growth in our shared pursuit of a resilient and prosperous future. As we look forward to a New Year, let us nurture the spirit of compassion and bayanihan in rediscovering the rich and dynamic heritage that have long defined our mutual ties of friendship and cooperation,” she added.
“Whatever lies ahead this year, may we face every challenge boldly with the same diligence, resilience, and hard work which all communities are known for. I wish everyone a bountiful and successful Spring Festival celebration,” the Vice President said.
