Lawmaker’s aide faces terrorism complaint

A TOP aide of  Aklan Rep. Teodorico Haresco Jr. faces charges for alleged violation of Republic Act 10168, or the “Terrorism Financing Prevention and Suppression Act of 2012,” by providing food and money to the communist guerrillas of New People’s Army (NPA) in the province.

The Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group filed the complaint against Benjie Tocol, reputedly an aide of Haresco, at the Department of Justice in Manila.

Named as Tocol’s co-respondents were Rosanna Inaudito, alias Ka Dayan/Ann-Ann, and Jose Edwin Guillen, who was identified as an officer of the NPA’s Coronacion Chiva “Waling-Waling” Command in the Panay Region.

The complaint stemmed from a confession by Brince Gegodas, an arrested NPA member, who claimed that Tocol directed him to deliver groceries and cash to Guillen at the Ceres Terminal in Kalibo, Aklan, in April 2023.
