BI tallies nearly 190K travelers during Christmas 2024

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) recorded an influx of nearly 190,000 travelers during Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, marking one of the year’s busiest periods.

BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado reported that the number of travelers processed by immigration officers over the two days remained consistent with figures recorded during the same period last year, reflecting a steady recovery of international travel.

The BI logged 52,437 arrivals and 41,895 departures nationwide on Christmas Eve alone. Meanwhile, Christmas Day saw 47,669 arrivals and 44,192 departures.

“Our officers are committed to providing seamless services despite the surge in traveler numbers during this peak season,” Viado said.

The bureau anticipates further passenger traffic as more travelers are expected to arrive and depart following the New Year celebrations.

It continues to encourage travelers to arrive early at airports and complete their pre-departure and arrival requirements to help ease the processing flow during the busy holiday period.
