SPD nabs Taiwanese for gun possession

THE Southern Police District (SPD) has arrested a Taiwanese national for violation of the country’s firearms and ammunitions law or Republic Act No. 10591.

The suspect, identified only by his aliases Zhang and Ming, was nabbed inside a shopping mall in Makati City in coordination with the Philippine National Police’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-National Capital Region.

Investigations disclosed that the suspect was a member of a notorious syndicate based in Taiwan, involved in various criminal activities such as the production of illegal narcotics, telecommunications fraud, and other crimes.

The foreigner was also earlier arrested along with three other other undocumented immigrants on March 1, 2023 by CIDG operatives.

The arrest resulted in the seizure of numerous firearms, including 53 revolvers, 13 5.56mm assault rifles, 12 pistols, six folding machine guns, an FN P90 sub-machine gun, a gun kit, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, assorted magazines, three suppressors, and four pistol barrels.
