The CGSMF was mandated to deploy marshals aboard merchant passenger ships at sea to protect, escort, and maintain the security of the crew, passengers, and vessels.

With its new headquarters, the CGSMF is expected to boost its operational capabilities and readiness, and continuously deliver a quality public service as frontline maritime service providers.

Another boost to CGSMF capabilities was the conduct of the SMBOC Class 07 – 2024 where Fifty-Seven (57) coast guardians graduated on that same day.
