The bicameral conference committee reconciling the Senate and House of Representatives versions of the 2025 General Appropriations Act is set to finalize its work next week, Senate President Francis Escudero, quoted by ABS-CBN News, said.
Escudero said the committee will meet on Dec. 9 or 10, depending on members’ schedules.
“Hopefully by next week, there will be a meeting to discuss and approve proposals from the House and Senate staff on the reconciliation of the budget,” he said.
Escudero noted there are just six days left in the Congressional Calendar in December and just 24 more session days in the 19th Congress.
Congress’ last day before its Yuletide break is December 18. It will resume sessions from January 13- February 7, 2025. before going on another break for the 2025 election campaign.
Lawmakers will come back to work on June 2 to June 13 to wrap up pending business before the 19th Congress adjourns its 3rd regular session sine die.
