‘Kristine’ blocks 27 roads in three regions—DPWH

At least 27 road sections in three regions are closed to traffic amid the environmental hazards caused by severe tropical storm ‘Kristine,’ the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said on Thursday.

Public Works Secretary Manuel Bonoan said 21 roads are not passable in Bicol, four in the Cordillera region, and two in Cagayan Valley.

The DPWH also said 10 road sections have limited access broken down as follows: one in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), one in Calabarzon, seven in Bicol, and one in Eastern Visayas. Some of these roads collapsed due to soil erosion and floods, among other reasons.

Bonoan said the department already deployed quick response assets, including 2,048 pieces of equipment and 9,005 personnel for clearing operations.

Meanwhile, all national roads and bridges in other affected regions are passable to all types of vehicles at present.
