Animal welfare

As part of its animal welfare advocacy, Manila Electric Company (Meralco) participates in the second anniversary of Biyaya Animal Care through which the veterinary service provider spayed and neutered over 2,000 cats and dogs in Mandaluyong City at no cost. Shown are Biyaya co-founder and president Rina Ortiz (second from right) with Senator Grace Poe (right) during the activity that involved a record number of beneficiary pets worldwide. The event was also supported by Mandaluyong City councilor Charisse Marie Abalos-Vargas through her ‘Pet Ko Luv Ko’ advocacy program and other government officials including Senator Risa Hontiveros, Las Piñas Rep. Camille Villar, Department of Agriculture Undersecretary Deogracias Victor Savellano and Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos.
