A photo exhibition commemorating the 50th anniversary of Philippine-China diplomatic relations and Filipino-Chinese Friendship Day, along with the turnover and activation of the Smart Museum system, was held on May 30, 2025 at the Kaisa Heritage Center in Intramuros, Manila.
The event, organized by the Kaisa Heritage Foundation and led by its president Lyonel Ty, carried the theme “50 Years of a Golden Past, Another Century of Mutual Trust.”
It showcased historical milestones in Philippine-China relations and introduced new technology to enhance cultural preservation and education.
Incoming Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Ma. Theresa Lazaro lauded the exhibition as a review of the achievements in bilateral ties over the past five decades.
She said that long before formal diplomatic relations began in 1975, the Philippines and China had already shared strong cultural and historical connections.
Lazaro also highlighted the role of the Filipino-Chinese community in national development, saying they serve as a bridge for strengthening ties between the two nations.
She said a strong relationship should be built on mutual trust, respect and dialogue.
Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian commended the Kaisa Heritage Foundation for promoting understanding and cooperation.
He also praised Lazaro for her efforts in maintaining open communication, citing the recent arrangements for resupply missions to Ayungin Shoal as an example of peaceful diplomacy.
Huang noted that this year also marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the World Anti-Fascist War and emphasized the importance of remembering the contributions of the Filipino-Chinese community.
