DLSU law school community mourns death of student in Cavite

The De La Salle University Tañada-Diokno School of Law issued a statement Sunday, mourning the loss of one of its students, who was found dead under disturbing circumstances in a vacant lot in Naic, Cavite.

Authorities reported that the remains of the student identified as 25-year-old Anthony Granada was found already in a state of decomposition in Barangay Sapa on Saturday, June 21. He was last seen on June 8, leaving his condominium along C-5 Road in Taguig City.

The victim reportedly boarded a transportation network vehicle service. CCTV footage later showed him walking alone on Lopez Jaena Bridge in Manila at around 9:20 p.m. on June 17. He was then reported missing.

“De La Salle University Tañada-Diokno School of Law deeply mourns the loss of one of its students and sympathizes with the family and friends of the deceased,” the school said in a statement. “We call on the community to unite as a family as we continue to pray during this time of profound grief.”

The DLSU community said school administrators have been in contact with the family since Granada was first reported missing. Guidance counselors were also in constant communication with his classmates.

Investigators said they found a plastic bottle labeled “Drain Clog Free” near the victim’s remains. It is a chemical substance commonly used to dissolve organic matter. The student’s smartphone and other personal belongings inside his bag were found intact during the crime scene processing.

The body was positively identified by the victim’s father based on clothing and personal belongings left at the location.
