Russian vlogger still in custody despite bail

Russian internet personality Vitaly Zdorovetskiy has been transferred back to the Bureau of Immigration (BI) Warden Facility after posting bail for his local court cases, immigration authorities confirmed on Friday.

Zdorovetskiy posted bail before Regional Trial Court Branch 153 in Taguig on June 18, but BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado clarified that he remains in custody due to an ongoing deportation case.

“Even if he files for bail for his local cases, he will still be returned to BI custody,” Viado said. “He will not be allowed to roam around as he is already seen as an undesirable alien.”

Zdorovetskiy was previously transferred to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) facility on June 11 for local charges, including unjust vexation. He will remain in BI custody until those charges are resolved.

He was arrested in Pasay City on April 2 following complaints that he harassed Filipinos to create controversial YouTube content. Viado said foreign nationals must respect local laws and not abuse Filipino hospitality.
