PBBM to launch nat’l emergency hotline in July

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Sunday said the government will soon launch a state-of-the-art national emergency hotline as an integral part of his administration’s campaign against criminality.

In a video message on his YouTube channel, President Marcos emphasized the priority of keeping the public safe and secure from criminals.

We have started deploying more police or what we call ‘Cops on the Beat,'” said the President in his “BBMVLOG #270: Mga Pagbabago.”

“We are also working on this emergency hotline and I am sure that in just a few weeks, maybe in July, we will be able to launch it,” President Marcos said.

The President also cited new Philippine National Police Chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III’s campaign for increased police visibility and a five-minute response time in case of an emergency.

The Unified 911 Emergency System is set to go live next month, starting in the National Capital Region, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), Ilocos Region, and Central Visayas.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said the emergency hotline utilizes cutting-edge technology to ensure a quick response from frontline units, such as the PNP and the Bureau of Fire Protection, while screening prank and nuisance calls.

During the vlog, the President also listened to some feedback about the renewed police presence in the streets, and noted the considerable service to the public when they feel secure.

One college student said: “We will be more comfortable to walk alone, knowing that there are police officers surrounded by you.”

Another woman said: “When we ask the police, we know we are secure.”

President Marcos’ order to keep the public safe against crime is part of his administration’s focus on making life easier for the public.

“That is the main direction that we laid out in our Cabinet: how do we make the life of every Filipino better,” the President said.
