Marcos shrugs off declining survey rating

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. downplayed a recent Pulse Asia survey showing a decline in his trust rating, saying it should not be taken as the sole measure of public sentiment.

“There are many other surveys. Let’s not base everything on just one,” President Marcos told reporters when asked about the results on Tuesday evening.

The latest Pulse Asia poll showed Marcos trailing behind both Vice President Sara Duterte and former President Rodrigo Duterte in trust ratings. It also pointed to a continuing downward trend in the president’s numbers.

When asked whether he plans to address the decline, President Marcos urged caution in interpreting survey data. “Know your source,” he said.

“Imperfect information makes you make imperfect decisions. The more perfect your information, the more perfect your decision will be,” President Marcos added.

He said while Pulse Asia is one source of public opinion, it’s important to understand the context and methodology behind each poll before drawing conclusions.

Marcos, however, did not cite any alternative surveys or mention specific strategies to address the dip in ratings.

The president’s comments come amid growing political tension within the administration and ongoing speculation about his alliance with the Dutertes.
