DOJ to clarify Roque’s multiple passports with the DFA

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla on Tuesday said they will be asking the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) how former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque was able to obtain three passports.

Earlier this month, the Angeles City, Pampanga Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 118 has ordered the arrest of Roque, Cassandra Ong, and others in relation to the qualified human trafficking case involving the Lucky South99 scam hub in Porac, Pampanga.

“We will ask the DFA about it because the DFA is doing that, not the DOJ, not the [Bureau of] Immigration,” he said in Filipino during a border control inspection at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

On Monday, Remulla revealed that the DOJ has initiated the cancellation of Roque’s passport before the RTC in Angeles City, Pampanga.

He explained this move will limit Roque’s options, emphasizing it is important to hold him accountable for his actions and let him defend himself in court.

Meanwhile, Roque believes the move to cancel his passport is ‘premature’ since there is a pending motion for reconsideration asking the DOJ to dismiss the case.

“In my Motion for Reconsideration, I stated that not a single evidence was presented to prove that I committed the overt act of organizing, providing financial support or directing other persons to commit any act of human trafficking,” Roque said in a statement.
