DPWH finishes new Babanuang Bridge project improving access to Isabela

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of the new Babanuang Bridge, replacing the old Babanuang Bridge, along the Santiago–Tuguegarao Road in Barangay Babanuang, San Manuel, Isabela.

The completed P48.5-million bridge project will address the longstanding safety concerns associated with the old bridge structure, which had been deemed structurally deficient and unfit for regular use.

The new Babanuang Bridge features durable bored pile foundations, a reinforced substructure and superstructure, and newly constructed approaches connected to the existing road network.

“With the completion of the new Babanuang Bridge, commuters and transport vehicles travelling along the Santiago–Tuguegarao Road are assured of a safer, and more efficient route,” DPWH Cagayan Valley Regional Director Mathias Malenab said.

Funded under the fiscal year 2024 Regular Infrastructure Program, the bridge replacement project was implemented as part of the national government’s ‘Build Better More’ program.
