Recognizing flooding as a significant challenge during the rainy season, NLEX Corporation organized the Inter-agency Flood Mitigation Forum 2025 to foster collaboration and enhance awareness of sustainable flood prevention. The forum brought together representatives from various cities including Quezon, Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela, Manila, Meycauayan, and the municipalities of Obando and Marilao, along with the Bulacan Provincial Government.
Partner government agencies present included the DILG, Office of Civil Defense, MMDA, DENR, DPWH, DOTr, and TRB, alongside experts from UP’s National Hydraulic Research Center and AMH Philippines. Discussions identified solid waste as a major contributor to flooding, emphasizing clean waterways as an immediate solution. By the forum’s conclusion, participants pledged to clean waterways before the rainy season and committed to information sharing and close coordination for effective implementation. The Inter-agency Flood Mitigation Forum 2025 is an initial step towards a broader plan for sustainable solutions, with participants scheduled to reconvene to track progress.
