NCRPO chief to relieve 9 police officials

NINE police officials are on the verge of losing their posts and 28 others under investigation for neglect of duty, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin disclosed.

In a talk with reporters on Wednesday, Aberin said the infractions included leaving the police assistance desks (PADs) unmanned.

The disciplinary actions came on the heels of surprise inspections of police stations in the Metro Manila conducted over the weekend by the Regional Intelligence Division (RID).

“We must step up with our crime prevention and solution efforts. I expect police commanders to be present, aware, and accountable for their men. Discipline begins at the top,” Aberin said.

We have ordered the investigation of 28. The RID held inspections.

The police assistance desks were unmanned,” he revealed.

While a significant number of police assistance desks (PADs), outposts, and visibility patrols were found compliant, a pattern of lapses and violations were noted over the two-day operation. The omissions included unmanned PADs and abandoned posts; single postings in violation of deployment protocols, non-significant use of cellular phones while on duty, and absence of police visibility in high-traffic public areas.

“Immediately, when we found out about it, based on the report of the RID, we ordered an investigation,” Aberin pointed out.
