Two-time Olympian Elreen Ando will be leading the Philippine weightlifting team to the 2025 Asian Weightlifting Championships, set to take place in Jiangshan, China, from May 9 to 15.
Ando, who placed sixth in the women’s 59kg division at the 2024 Paris Olympics, will now compete in the 64kg category—a division in which she previously won bronze at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games and silver at the 2021 Asian Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Joining the Cebuana standout are national teammates Rose Jean Ramos (women’s 45kg), Rosegie Ramos (women’s 49kg), Kristel Macrohon (women’s 71kg), and Fernando Agad Jr. (men’s 55kg).
The delegation also includes Samahang Weightlifting ng Pilipinas president Monico Puentevella, Brian Joseph Puentevella, national coaches Nicolas Jaluag, Patrick Lee, and Kelle Kay Rojas. Supporting staff from the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) include SDO Violeta Tuazon, physical therapist Kirsten Jan Alamar, and masseuse Rosanna Cinco.
